Advanced portable, interoperable, high-sensitivity sensor platform for early detection, monitoring and response to CBRN threats
Project objective
ARGUS is an industrial R&D project focused on creating a new-generation, modular, scalable, and portable multi-threat detection system for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNe) agents.
The technical development is structured around two main subsystems: the Chemical-Biological (CBe) sensor, which researches DMA technology, miniaturized gas chromatography, sampling systems, and signal processing chips to achieve ultra-sensitivity levels (up to parts per quadrillion, ppq); and the Radiological and Nuclear (RN) sensor, which focuses on improving accuracy and real-time adaptation through the investigation of multi-sensor detectors, measurement algorithms based on machine learning, and the design of embedded processing microarchitectures (FPGA/ASIC).
The system’s core is an Intelligent Platform responsible for the acquisition, preprocessing, fusion, and advanced interpretation of data from all sensors to generate real-time alerts.
